School is out for the summer!
Now to start the job hunt... I'm not starting up hats just yet though. I'm flailing about right now trying to find something that I can actually support myself on. Looking for any job or freelance work that's mildly creative and pays 8+ an hour. I don't suppose anyone wants a batch order of hats, a nice illustration, game backgrounds, simple flash animations or anything else they think I could do?
Geuss I need to go fill out that Hobby Lobby aplication.

Art Commissions
I've got some spare time on my hands and I was wondering; is anyone out there interested in commissioning me for some artwork? Alas, I still have no sewing machine, so I won't be taking any requests for hats or plush things, but I did just buy myself a new cintiq, and it's begging to be broken in. I'm up for just about anything.
I was thinking $25 for a single character with a simple background. Background design is also welcomed if you need that.
We can work out a price for whatever else you have in mind. I wouldn't even mind an art trade if you're awesome. ;)
Any takers?
LATE UPDATE
:thumb266907544:
So I totally did get a job!
I think it was about two weeks after my last journal that I got my permit and then another two weeks until I was hired. I've been working for 5 weeks already!
Where you ask? Why my dear friend, I'm working at the fantastical Atomic Cartoons, creator of Atomic Betty, located not far from downtown Vancouver BC. :)
I'm working on a new Transformers cartoon for younger kids which I can't tell you anything about, but I'm drawing some of the backgrounds for it and it's a lot of fun. All I do all day is draw buildings, roads, trees and clouds! You want to know the crazier part? We can't do it fast e
Sleeping In
I'm in Vancouver and unable to get a job. It's not that I can't find someone to hire me, that's not the problem (yet.) It's that I'm waiting for the nice mailman to deliver a legal paper that seems will never work its way through Canadian bureaucracy. I need my work permit!
Until then I find myself stuck in two mind zones - horribly apathetic and lazy and so excited to start ten projects at once!
Stuff I'm working on, want to work on, and will inevitably never work on:
AppleJack Plush (perpetually almost done)
Ilo & Milo Plushies (need to finish drafting the pattern first)
Three more paintings of people interacting with Jesus (one down?)
Some Thoughts on Copyright
I've been reading up on copyright, again. I swear this is probably the fourth time I've spent over an hour reading, searching and puzzling over copyright. The basics are simple, create something and you have the right to control how it's used. Which unless expressly otherwise stated by you, means no one can steal, mass produce or republish your work. But what about derivative work, fair use, and parody?
What is fan art and when and to what extent is it allowed?
Copyright is a big deal, it's the rules about what you're allowed to do with the creative works around you. It's job is to give credit and full control of a work to it's creator.

If only you lived near Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, USA. Tourist capital of Wisconsin, waterpark capital of the world. They have a main street laced with art shops (custom pottery, painting, beadmaking, shirtmaking, etc.) and other one of a kind shops. It's primarily a summer job place, though, since its main attractions are, well... waterparks.
