The entries are in and the contest is closed.  I'll be getting together with my "panel" to rank the entries and get to you ASAP (time permitting) with the winner.  I want to thank all who entered or supported the artists.  There was a big response with many brilliant and creative entries.  I'd urge you to take a look and give some feedback if you haven't already, or if you have, check back for the newest entries. One week left until deadline!  I'm adding all the entries to a collection as I get them here: clearkid.deviantart.com/favour… and seeing as there is a user choice aspect to judging, I'd suggest you go favorite the ones you like (and while your at it you might as well leave a nice comment too. ) And remember that you can enter as many times as you like.

I also want to say that while pokemon entries are welcome, I'm really looking for you to make them your own and use your own creative signature.  If you come up with say a sandshrew hat and I, without looking at yours, draw up a nearly identical version, while it may be cute, probably won't score too highly. (and just for the record, if I then go on to make said unoriginal sandshrew design, I probably won't send it to you free just because you entered the design, sorry.) I really don't want to accuse or bash anyone here, but I know you guys have it in you to dream up your own crazy ideas.  This is your chance to best me at my business and come up with something all your own!

So I’ve been thinking about it for a while and now it’s official.  Today marks the beginning of CK’s 2009 Hat Design Competition!

What you should do: Using the template or not, clearkid.deviantart.com/art/Ha… design a great hat, submit it to your deviantart account and comment here with a link to your design.

The first place winner will get their design made and sent to them for FREE!  If I decide some of the other designs would be great to make too I will send one to the designer(s) free also.

How it’s going to be judged:  The designs will be based on four aspects: Originality (10pts), Feasibility (aka the difficulty to make the design) (10pts), Judges Choice (10pts), + User’s choice. (Which unless proves to vary widely will be the piece’s favorites – the users average favorites + 1/10 of the pieces favorites all divided by some number which makes most of the deviations fall within 10 (aka like 2 or 4). xD)
Judges will be EpicRave, Dannybear and myself.  I solely will be judging the feasibility aspect. (I’m open to having a couple other judges - note me about it.)

Rules:  Designs must include but are not limited to a hat.  You may also design a matching scarf or shawl or other article.  (Other articles may drive down your feasibility so only add them if you think they add to the design.  That said, your design will be judged as a whole and separately and you will receive the highest score.) You may submit as many designs as you like.  Judges may enter but are not allowed to vote on their own designs.  Designs must be appropriate and not include any hateful or obscene images or words.  Don’t steal someone else’s ideas or designs. Be respectful of others and of the judges decisions.  Have fun.

Deadline:  Sunday July 19th at midnight central time.

Why I’m holding this contest:   Lots of reasons.  I’m looking for some fresh ideas and I know you guys have a lot, and it’s also good insight into what you guys actually like.  I get an excuse to make someone a hat for free and I think it’s just going to be a blast.

A note: This is not the contest you want to enter if you want to keep your ideas super secret and all to yourself.  All designs have a chance of being produced by me for sale, but, if I use a design exactly or very nearly like yours, I will send one to you free.  This is for inspiration too, so some aspects may just be absorbed and used later.
